The passage of time, the succession of works across generations, leaves a mark that represents a new starting point for a journey enriched by experience, skills, innovation, and originality. Petramundi, in fact, is the latest stage in a path that has made it a valuable entity in the world of colored gemstone processing.

1930

Domenico begins trading diamonds and natural pearls, initiating the Gay family tradition.

1949

Franco obtains his first license and starts trading gemstones and jewelry, supported by his father’s expertise.

1953

The “Adamantem” Company is established and thrives in Turin, specializing in diamond trading.

1969

Domenico and Marco’s sons establish the “Stainston” Company. The two brothers explore markets and materials in India, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Antwerp, Tel Aviv, Bombay, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Indonesia, Burma, and Nigeria. Starting in the 1980s, Domenico gradually transfers shares of Stainston to his sons Rocco, Tommaso, and Pietro.

2002

Tommaso moves to Bangkok to manage the rough cutting workshop “Rough&Gems.”

2008

The Stainston story ends, and Petramundi srl is founded, led by Rocco, with a focus on the world of international trade fairs.

Rocco and Pietro establish the cutting workshop Petralab srl, dedicated to gemstone cutting.

Petralab srl absorbs several small cutting workshops in Valenza, creating one of the most structured and experienced cutting facilities in Italy.

2021

Petramundi srl absorbs all activities of Petralab srl, forming a single company.

The CEO:

Rocco Gay is a gem expert, a GIA graduate for over 30 years, and a Certified Gemologist of the Turin Chamber of Commerce since 1995. Recognized and esteemed for his expertise, competence, and innovative capabilities in the world of gemstones, he leads the company with a vision aimed at excellence, heritage enhancement, and social responsibility. He is Vice President of the International Colored Gemstones Association (ICA), a Member of the Board of the Gems Keep Giving Foundation, the Italian Gemological Institute (IGI), and a Member of the General Council of FEDERORAFI.

PIETRO GAY

The Production Director:

Pietro Gay, after studying at GIA, has dedicated his career to gemology and gemstone cutting. As Factory Director and co-founder of Petramundi, he is a key figure in maintaining the high standards of quality and precision that characterize the brand. His expertise spans raw material selection, strategic planning, and technological advancement, promoting the efficiency and innovation of production activities.
