PETRAMUNDI ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
HUMAN RIGHTS – Refuse to collaborate with companies that disregard workers’ rights, exploit child labor, or engage in forced labor or slavery.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY – Commitment to the responsible sourcing of sustainable materials, goods, and services to maintain and protect the health of the planet.
EMPLOYEE PROTECTION – Guarantee a healthy work environment, in compliance with current regulations, through accurate control standards that minimize workers’ exposure to risks related to work activities.
COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS – Exclude working relationships with companies that do not comply with local and international laws and regulations regarding taxation, environmental impact, corruption, and smuggling.
PETRAMUNDI CHAIN OF CUSTODY
RESPONSIBLE SOURCING
Every purchase is guided by ethical rules and the principle of sustainability and is documented, cataloged, and made available. To ensure the Chain of Custody, each external supplier adheres to the Petramundi policy and guarantees the traceability and origin of materials through appropriate documentation. They must also guarantee that each operation is carried out in full compliance with local and international laws and regulations, as well as the Petramundi Code of Ethics.
SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION
Production processes are carried out exclusively within our cutting factories in Valenza and Bangkok, from the selection of raw materials to the cut gemstone, according to the principles of the Petramundi COEC.
ETHICAL GEM
Each gem originating from the “Petramundi chain of custody” is accompanied by a specific QR CODE. The code contains the main characteristics of the gem, its origin, and any treatments, as per the Petramundi Full Disclosure Policy.
PETRAMUNDI SDG IMPACT
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
With the universal adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations in 2015, companies worldwide are seeking ways to contribute to their achievement by 2030, aiming to improve the stability of society.
While there are various ways to approach this goal, such as philanthropic action, it is equally important—if not more so—to consider how achieving or failing to achieve the SDGs might influence the company’s strategy and its future performance.
MEMBERSHIPS
RJC CERTIFIED MEMBER
Founded in 2005, the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC) is an international non-profit organization whose purpose is to reinforce consumer confidence in the jewelry industry, the supply of precious metals, and gemstones. Being accredited by this prestigious organization means having demonstrated the use of production processes based on a strong ethical vision, oriented towards social responsibility and environmental protection.
INTERNATIONAL COLORED GEMSTONE ASSOCIATION ACCREDITED ETHICAL MEMBER
ICA has worked closely with the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) and other industry organizations to develop strategies to continuously improve colored gemstone business practices. To this end, they have developed an ethical accreditation portal that certifies the ethical and moral sustainability of operating practices.
CONFINDUSTRIA ALESSANDRIA
Confindustria is the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy, with a voluntary membership of over 150,000 companies of all sizes, employing 5,417,168 people.
The association’s activities aim to guarantee the central role of businesses as the driving force behind the country’s economic, social, and civil development. By representing companies and their values at institutions of all levels, Confindustria contributes to social well-being and progress.
From this standpoint, it guarantees increasingly diversified, efficient, and modern services. Confindustria’s added value stems from its network: a headquarters in Rome, 225 local and trade associations, and, since 1958, a delegation in Brussels, whose strategic importance has grown over the years and is now a benchmark for the entire Italian economic system at the European Union.
IGI MILANO
The Italian Gemological Institute (IGI) is a leading institution in Italy dedicated to gemological research, education, and certification. Renowned for its expertise and rigorous standards, IGI supports the gemstone and jewelry industry by providing reliable certifications and fostering knowledge and innovation in the field.

RESPONSIBLE INITIATIVES
GEMS KEEP GIVING
“Gems Keep Giving” (GKG) is an initiative established by the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) to support artisanal gemstone mining and cutting communities worldwide. As the name suggests, those involved in the gem industry now have a way to give back to those in our industry who need it most. With GKG, we are not only changing lives for the better but also contributing to making our industry more sustainable.
MANI INTELLIGENTI
The “Mani Intelligenti” Foundation aims to seek and train the new generation of Master Goldsmiths. The goldsmith tradition of Valenza is undoubtedly recognized throughout the world, differentiating itself thanks to the innovation, creativity, and exclusive care of Italian craftsmanship in jewelry. We are witnessing a generational gap that could compromise the sustainability of the entire production system of high-end Italian jewelry. For this reason, the Foundation wants to commit itself to seeking a new generation of master goldsmiths who can carry on not only the tradition but also the innovation and quality.
